My Sports Beliefs

I believe the best sports memory of my lifetime was the Reds winning the World Series in 1990

I believe the worst moment(s) in my sports life would go in the following heartbreaking order: 1) Lewis Billups’ dropped INT in Super Bowl XXIII , 2) Tim Krumrie’s broken leg in Super Bowl XXIII, 3)Kenyon Martin’s broken foot in 2000, and 4) Palmer’s Broken knee in 2005

I believe the intentional walk should be taken out of baseball

I believe if the intentional walk is left in baseball, it should result in 2 bases

I believe the American and National league should play by the same rules

I believe the DH should be retired

I believe baseball would be more popular if the games were not 3 hours+

I believe a pitch clock would speed up the game

I believe being caught using PEDs should be a 1 year ban

I believe a second offense should be a lifetime ban

I believe Ken Griffey Jr was the best all around baseball player

I believe Ken Griffey Jr was the only star of his era I am confident did not use PEDs

I believe Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame, however…

I believe Pete Rose should not be permitted to work in baseball

I believe Mike Brown is far from the worst owner in sports.

I believe Mike Brown has changed his philosophy and has begun to mimic the philosophies of winning organizations.

I believe that Mike Brown does not embrace his fans, the city, or the history of the franchise the way the fans, city, and franchise deserve to be embraced.

I believe with the slightest bit of marketing and PR acumen, the Bengals could have the city
of Cincinnati wrapped around their finger

I believe the Bengals would have made the playoffs in 1998 had Boomer Esiason been
offered a contract

I believe picking Akili Smith in 1999 and turning down the Saints offer to trade their entire draft (so they could get Ricky Williams) was one of the worst front office moves in sports history

I believe the atmosphere before a football game is second to none, however…

I believe watching football is best on television

I believe hockey is the best sport to watch in person

I believe hockey does not translate very well to television

I believe fighting is an important part of hockey

I believe those that want fighting to be removed from hockey do not understand the sport…nor the purpose which fighting serves

I believe if you are offended by fighting in hockey, you should not watch

I believe college football has the most important regular season

I believe the post season in college football is a sham on the fans, the players, the schools
and the sport itself

I believe college basketball has the most irrelevant regular season

I believe college basketball has the most captivating tournament

I believe the Stanley Cup Playoffs are the most exciting playoffs

I believe the Stanley Cup is the best trophy

I believe the Miracle on Ice was the best moment in US sports history

I believe most do not know that the Miracle on Ice was not the Gold Medal match

I believe the Olympics turns me into a 10 year old every 2 years

I believe I would watch anything which involves competition between countries

I believe the Danettes (of the Dan Patrick show) have the best job in the world

I believe ESPN has gotten lazy with their coverage of sports stories

I believe preseason college rankings are bogus

I believe ranking college teams (in any sport) before they have play 4 games is pointless, because…

I believe doing so gives the top teams an inherently unfair advantage for the tournament (especially in college football)

I believe flopping in soccer should be reviewed after every game and result in suspensions

I believe soccer is on the verge of becoming popular in the US

I believe some in the US will be angered by this

I believe ‘Potential’ is the most useless thing in sports

I believe the NFL combine serves no purpose

I believe I thought Ryan Leaf would be a better NFL QB than Peyton Manning…

I believe I was wrong

I believe I would have never used a pick on JaMarcus Russell

I believe I was right

I believe Ryan Freel was not a smart, nor very good, baseball player

I believe the people of Cincinnati loved him simply because he hustled

I believe if I pump faked right now, Kevin Hardy would still jump in the air

I believe Gus Frerotte was not ambidextrous

I believe life would be very boring without sports

And lastly, I believe my beliefs have gone on long enough.
