Week
1
Seattle Seahawks
11-1
Impressive
win last week likely wrapped up the #1 seed in the NFC and home field
advantage…making them the clear favorite in the NFC.
2
2
Denver Broncos
10-2
Denver
is #1 in PPG at 38.7. The 2nd place team averages just 28.3 (Sea)! Denver is
also converting 3rd downs at 49.0%.
3
3
New Orleans Saints
9-3
Last
week was a perfect storm of disaster for Saints. In Seattle, cold, raining
and getting behind early. This is still the 2nd best team in the NFC and
don’t count them out if they meet Seattle again.
1
4
Carolina Panthers
9-3
4
games to play and 2 are against the Saints. The NFC South and the NFC #2 seed
will be decided in the next 3 weeks.
4
5
Cincinnati Bengals
8-4
The
Bengals beat a good (and desparate) team on the West Coast. It wasn't pretty,
but it was impressive.
5
6
New England Patriots
8-4
All
they do is win - many times in games they have no business winning. But, will
it catch up to them at some point?
6
7
Kansas City Chiefs
9-3
The
Chiefs are a top 4 team in the AFC, but, there is a big gap between them and
the upper echelon. 9-0 against bad team. 0-3 against good/mediocre teams.
7
8
San Francisco 49ers
8-4
They
are beating teams they are supposed to beat, but the division is lost and
they are not a playoff shoe in.
9
9
Philadelphia Eagles
7-5
They
lead the NFC East, but that isn't saying much. The Eagles wins have come
against teams with a combined 30-53-1 record. Their best win (AZ) was greatly
assisted by poor officiating.
11
10
Dallas Cowboys
7-5
With
4 games to play, the Cowboys are tied for the division lead, but is there a
team you trust less to when they need to win?
10
11
Arizona Cardinals
7-5
I
believe the Cardinals were robbed in Philadelphia last week, but, with 4
games to play, the Cardinals are in good position for a playoff spot.
8
12
Indianapolis Colts
8-4
The
Colts are 3-2 since Wayne went down, but they have looked bad in all 5 games.
Luck needs more weapons and the defense is still weak.
14
13
Detroit Lions
7-5
Speaking
of teams you don't trust, the Lions (a dome team) play in a freezing cold
Philly today. Do you trust them to win? If they don't it is possible they
have just a .5 game lead on GB. If Rodgers comes back, the Lions may get very
tight.
20
14
Saint Louis Rams
5-7
They
play good defense and actually look better with Clemons at QB, but they just
don't have enough play makers to be legitimate playoff contenders.
13
15
Baltimore Ravens
6-6
A
victory over the Steelers is not as impressive as it used to be. At 6-6,
Baltimore has a leg up on the final playoff spot in the AFC but they have yet
to look playoff worthy.
18
16
Chicago Bears
6-6
Injuries
seem to be taking there toll on the Bears, particularly on defense. Could
this be the end of Grumpy's (err Cutlers') run in the Windy City?
15
17
San Diego Chargers
5-7
The
Chargers have 3 of their last 4 at home and have the best QB of all the wild
card contenders in the AFC, but can their defense hold?
16
18
Tennessee Titans
5-7
They
needed the win last week against Indy and let it slip away. 5-7 heading to
Denver is not good for their playoff chances.
17
19
Pittsburgh Steelers
5-7
Because
they are in the AFC, they are not dead at 5-7, but they probably need to run
the table to have a shot at the playoffs.
12
20
New York Giants
5-7
It
may sound crazy, but with Philly and Dallas both having tough games today, a
win by the Giants could leave them just a game back with 3 to play.
23
21
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
3-9
As
much as I like to bang on Shiano, the Bucs are still playing hard and they
are just minutes from being 6-6 and still in the playoff hunt.
22
22
Buffalo Bills
4-8
The
Bills have not been healthy, but Marrone and Manuel have performed much
better than I thought. They could be someones playoff spoiler.
21
23
Miami Dolphins
6-6
A
huge game in Pittsburgh today. They may not look like a playoff team (who
does in the AFC), but at 6-6, the Dolphins are tied for the last AFC playoff
spot.
24
24
Green Bay Packers
5-6-1
If
the Lions lose in Philly today and Rodgers comes back, I like the Packers to
still win this division. But, no Rodgers = no playoffs for the Pack.
19
25
Minnesota Vikings
3-8-1
They
may only have 3 wins, but with AP in the back field, no playoff contender
wants to see the Vikings on their schedule.
30
26
Washington Redskins
3-9
Take
out the impressive 7 game win streak to get to the playoffs last year, and
RGIII and Mike Shannahan are 6-16 in their other 22 games together.
29
27
Oakland Raiders
4-8
No
QB, no wide receivers, no playmakers on defense and a glass running back
spells a franchise in trouble.
26
28
Jacksonville Jaguars
3-9
Don't
look now, but the Jaguars have won 3 of their last 4 (now 4 of 5 since the
rankings are late!). The Jags are still playing hard.
27
29
Cleveland Browns
4-8
And
to think, just a few weeks ago people were talking about the Browns as
possible playoff contenders. Brian Hoyer's short run of success may have cost
this is a team a chance at the #1 overall pick.
25
30
New York Jets
5-7
With
all due respect to the 2012 Redskins and Vikings, can you recall a more
"Smoke and Mirrors" record in NFL history? 30th in offense. 32nd in
passing. 32nd in interceptions. 31st in turnovers.
28
31
Atlanta Falcons
3-9
Preseason
had a lot of people picking a Falcons v Texans Super Bowl. The only thing
they may be battling over after week 17 is the #1 overall pick.
32
32
Houston Texans
2-10
See
above.
